Last year, I had the pleasure of capturing Anelise and David’s Summer mountain engagement photos in New Hampshire (Franconia Notch, specifically).
If you’re a New Hampshire native, love the mountains, or are just a super outdoorsy couple – there is no better place for your engagement photos than in the Mountains of NH! New Hampshire is full of gorgeous mountains and the surrounding areas are quite beautiful too!
Anelise and David actually live in Washington, D.C., but made the trip to New Hampshire for their engagement session with me to showcase their love of the mountains. We chose to do their session in Franconia Notch at Echo Lake, right next to Cannon Ski Resort. This was the PERFECT spot for them, and I fell in love with it from a photographer’s point of view as well.
Echo Lake Beach really has it all. The view of the mountains, the sparkling clean lake, a boat dock, and tons of greenery. It’s really a dream all around. And what’s even better, is there is a short hiking trail just across the street. We made the 20 minute trek up for the most stunning view of Franconia Notch from above.
Firstly, just know that it’s totally normal and understandable to feel nervous leading up to your engagement session. However, as a wedding photographer, I’m here to lead and guide you the whole way through! I don’t expect you to be professional models or know how to perfectly pose yourselves. That’s where my experience and expertise comes in – trust me as your photographer, I promise I won’t lead you astray.
At the start of our engagement session, you can let me know if you have a preferred side of your face, which side of each other you like to stand on, and if there’s anything you’d like me to avoid. From there, I’ll teach you some super simple poses, which I’ll guide you through for the entire session. I’ll tell you how to stand, where to put your hands, and where to look. Believe me, you’ll be a professional in no time!
My posing approach is based off of your connection with each other. If you’re super playful and adventurous, I’ll get you moving around a bunch! Not into PDA in photos? No problem! We can absolutely avoid it! If you like more traditional photos, we will stick to the classic poses. But, if you’re up for more, we can get into more “advanced” posing, and get you moving around. Trust me, you’ll get it in no time. If something’s not working, we’ll move on! I never want you to feel uncomfortable, confused, or unlike yourselves. We will keep open communication the whole time, and you can inform me if there’s anything you don’t like.
Preparing for your engagement photo session will set you up for success and ease your nerves a bit! Here are a few tips:
