I. Choosing The Right Location For Your Ultimate Boston Proposal

There are so many beautiful backdrops and sentimental places in the city of Boston, so it can be difficult to narrow down the perfect spot for you and yours! Here is a list of locations that may suit your needs and give you a starting point for planning the perfect Boston proposal.

• Boston Public Garden / Boston Commons: A classic Boston spot featuring greenery, flowers, a pond with swan boats, walkways & bridges, large willow trees, and more. You really can’t go wrong with proposing at the public garden or the commons, because they are stunning from every angle!

• Charles River Esplanade: (As seen in images above) A great location for couple’s that may enjoy running or walking as it features a trail. You can get a gorgeous view of the city if you propose along the water or on the dock! A tip for this location is to propose early in the morning when the dock is typically empty!

• Fenway Park: Another Boston classic! This is perfect if your significant other is into sports, or more specifically, baseball! You don’t necessarily need to be psychically in the park either, you could propose nearby with it in the distance!

• Seaport District: If you enjoy a modern, true “city feel” backdrop, consider proposing in the Seaport District! You could pop the question along the water with the cityscape in the background, in the park, or at one of the many rooftop bars.

• Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum Courtyard: A great hidden gem in Boston! This art museum’s courtyard features lush greenery, stunning architecture, and of course, art. For this idea, you can take her on a date in the museum and pop the question on your way out!

• Arnold Arboretum: For nature lovers, this may be the way to go! The Arnold Arboretum in Jamaica Plain offers a peaceful, serene atmosphere that is fitting for a romantic proposal. You will be surrounded by greenery, blooming flowers, and nature.

• A Newbury Street Rooftop Lounge: Newbury street is the heart of Boston, featuring great shopping, delicious restaurants, and plenty of bars. Arrange a reservation at one of the many rooftop bars and enjoy the gorgeous scenery. Another idea would be to take her shopping along Newbury Street to get dolled up first, and then pop the question.

In Steven and Alex’s example, he had proposed in the early morning, got her dolled up with hair, nails, makeup, and a new outfit, and then had her family meet them later on for a celebration dinner in the city. She was thrilled to have her family there to celebrate!

Some women are VERY specific about how they want to be proposed to, so be sure to respect her wishes. You can either directly ask her what she would like, or ask around her family and friends. She may want something very private, or maybe she doesn’t mind being the center of attention and would enjoy something in public!
